Founder
Laura Cazier
Laura loves learning and working with kids. A board-certified emergency physician who works part-time in pediatric emergency care, she also homeschools her four children. Inspired by this experience, she helped create a school that blends the strengths of traditional education with the flexibility of homeschool. With a background in psychology and a passion for positive psychology, Laura finds great joy serving as VLA’s administrator and is honored to be part of such a special community.

Alex Cazier
Alexandra (Alex), a current college student, left traditional school after kindergarten and has thrived in a customized, passion-driven education. She helped launch Valley Leadership Academy, where kindness is rule #1, and took on leadership roles ranging from Student Council to mentoring younger students. Above all, she loves helping kids recognize their potential and grow as leaders.

Grades 3-5 Administrative Director
Kristyn Turney
Kristyn holds a degree in Special Education and previously worked as a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. She later founded a homeschool program in the Priceville area and serves on the board of a local homeschool basketball program. At VLA, she loves watching students learn and grow, and when she’s not teaching or planning, you’ll find her on the porch with coffee and a good book.

Grades 1-2 and 6-8 Administrative Director
Amber Stifflemire
Amber is a curious listener and lifelong history lover who believes every story matters. She earned her degree in Social Psychology with a minor in History from UAB and later discovered a passion for education through homeschooling her three children. At VLA, she brings her love of learning, travel, and storytelling to help students grow into confident, thoughtful world-changers.

Grades K and 9-12 Administrative Director
Alice Vosahlik
Alice has homeschooled her three children for 12 years and has taught Huntsville homeschool students in various roles. With a background in Social Work from Auburn University and experience in youth advocacy and mental health care, she is passionate about empowering students and families. A certified life coach, Alice loves helping people discover their potential and thrives as a lifelong learner at VLA.
